Money when travelling to Scotland

Inexperienced traveler with some money questions :)

Is it better for me to get my euro exchanged before I travel to Scotland, or would it be cheaper to use atms over there?

Can I use all atms, and do they charge different fees for withdrawing?

I have a boi visa debit card.

    Thanks for your help.

I find it handiest just to withdraw money when I get over to Sterling-land.

But they DON'T all charge the same fees - I once withdrew £150 or £200 and got charged about £12 for the privilege  - I have no idea how it's done but would be worth asking your particular bank, they may know the most cost-efficient way of doing it, or may have a liaison with particular banks over there.

But don't go withdrawing a tenner per day, whatever else you do! Big amounts only.

I'm just back, It cost 1.52 euro for every pound I took out of atm I was at, cheaper to go in bank, think it's about 1.40

That was a pretty crap rate. However two things could have influenced the effective rate you got and they are the charge levied by the ATM itself and the amount of cash you withdrew because if you withdraw a small amount, the bank charges can be significant.

Can you say if the ATM itself charged you and how much with you withdrew?

I doubt that if you withdraw £200 or so at a bank ATM that the rate would be that bad.
