Taking an NI Reg car to England

    Hi guys

I might be better off asking this on an English site but thought I'd try here first.

I am moving back to England.
I was thinking I would sell my Irish reg car here, go up to Newry and buy a Northern Reg car and drive it over. And then use it over there.

Does anyone know if I can then just tax and insure the car over in the UK when I'm there as normal - am I right that an NI reg is exactly the same as a UK reg? When I buy the car, can I put down an English address on the logbook or do I need to something more official to re-register it in a different country - or I suppose it isn't really a different country?!

Sounds like a silly question but I really don't know what I'm allowed to do!
    Thanks in advance :)

You can move your vehicle freely between Great Britain and Northern Ireland if it’s registered in either country.

You’ll need to notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) of a change of address.
