Hi , I have booked the following flight to Dublin to Miami via Paris Charles de Gaulle .

Our flight details are as follows

09:00 Dublin, International Airport (DUB), IRELAND - Terminal 1
    ARRIVE
11:55 Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG), FRANCE 2E

14:10 Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG), FRANCE - Terminal 2F
    ARRIVE
17:40 Miami, International Airport (MIA), United States of America

    Return

20:30 Miami, International Airport (MIA), United States of America -
    ARRIVE
11:20 Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG), FRANCE

12:55 Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG), FRANCE - Terminal 2E
    ARRIVE
13:50 Dublin, International Airport (DUB), IRELAND

On the outbound flight is the connection time sufficient? Will we clear customs in Dublin or Paris and will our bags be carried straight through to our Miami Flight from Paris

You will clear customs and immigration in Miami as Ireland is the only European country with US pre-clearance. Bags will go straight to Miami.

Connection times doable but don't delay, head straight to your next terminal. You'll have to go through security again in CDG and the queues can be awful.

Thanks for the quick reply, last 3 times we flew indirect to Orlando was stopping in a US Airport so had pre clearance here. Good to know about bags carried through and thanks for the tip on the security do you know if CDG have express security lanes to purchase ?

Not sure if you can purchase it, I've had it by virtue of frequent flyer status. I'm sure the info is on the airport website.

be prepared for a long wait in MIA

My recent experience and regular reports is that Miami has significantly improved following he introduction of the ESTA machines where you clear all fingerprint etc procedures before approaching the desk. Of course if you just head to the back of a long queue it could be horrific.

There's a tool on the CBP site which allows you to check approximate wait times at any given port of entry.

I love CityJet, one of the differences is that they have limited room onboard for cabin baggage, so they take your baggage at the steps of the plane. I therefore place all my important items (laptop, cameras etc) into a smaller bag inside my trolley, then i just take the smaller bag onboard and place it under my seat.

As for CDG, follow the transfer signs and you will miss a lot of the queues especially immigration. I went through there a week ago, landed from Dublin at 09:30, collected my baggage, changed to Terminal 2C, checked in just as it closed, went through security and departed on an international flight at 11:15, so it can be done :)
