New Megane - difference in HP

Quick question (please, no "don't get a megane comments" ;) )

    1.5 Megane 95 BHP @ 4000 rpm, Torque 240 Nm @ 1750 rpm

    1.5 Megane 110 BHP @ 4000rpm, Torque 260 Nm @ 1750 rpm

Where will I notice the difference in these 2 models?

    Thanks.

Yes. I think the 110 might have a 6 speed box as well. Not 100% sure on that.

    Hi Colm

When you say "yes" I take it you are saying I'll notice the difference! Could you elaborate?

    They are both 6 speeds.

    Thanks.

Test drive both, it's the only way to know for yourself.

Ahh yes absolutely, but an opinion would be great! Where might the difference be?

The difference would be that the higher bhp version would have an extra bit of poke especially in lower gears.

Are you talking about the mk3

There are 3 1.5 dci engine

    Euro 4 1.5dci 5 85bhp it's actually 82bhp no dpf 2009 and 2010 model 5 speed.

    Euro 5 1.5dci 90bhp it's actually 88bhp has dpf 2011 onwards 5 speed.

    1.5dci 110bhp it's actually a 106bhp I think they have a dpf and they are 6 speed.

I have a 90 and have driven an 85 on loan for a while. 90 feels slightly quicker that 85. Neither are quick but both are very Revy so feel quick enough up to 60 mph. The 110 would be a bit quicker but its main advantage is the 6th speed is better for motorway cruising but the 90 does the job done just at higher revs.

If you want to tell if the car is an 85 or 90 in the mk3 the 90 has a gearshift indicator 85 doesn't and then obviously if it has a 6 speed box it's a 110.

Edit: by the looks of it your buying brand new then the 85 wouldn't come into it.

Make sure you are getting a good deal on the existing model as there is a new model out very soon:

15bhp would certainly be noticable at that level.

I had a few Foci and the difference between a 95 and 115bhp version of the same engine was night and day as regards overtaking performance.

    Fuel consumption was identical.

I would say that the difference would be quite noticeable. Certainly on the older megane, they were chalk and cheese. They wouldn't bother offering both if they were very similar.

I'm talking about the MK3 I believe (current model) but not the engines you refer to - they are as I mentioned in the original post a 95hp and 110hp.
    I have a 90 myself from 2012.

I ended up going for the 95 bhp model. I know people have said I would notice the difference in the 110hp model but it is nearly a grand dearer, and has the Stop&Start system which, while it can be turned off, auto turns on every time you start the car again and I simply don't want the feature. Also, I currently have a MK3 90hp model and it's zippy enough taking off.

    1) "Limited" version €23,855 incl. metallic paint and delivery charges only €300 more than 'dynamique' model - giving:
    •Rear parking sensors
    •dual zone climate control
    •Door mirrors - folding
    •Panoramic sunroof

    2) While there is a new model coming out sometime in 2016, I was given, on the €23,855 list price for the 'Limited' model, €14k for my 2012 Megane as a trade in - which is more than I could have sold it for.

    3) That left me with 10k which they financed at 0% interest over 3 years.

I think I got a good deal. Of course, if I didn't I'm sure I will hear on here!

You got a great trade in on your own car. I didn't realise they have a 95bhp engine out now. Throw up a few pictures when you get it. Good spec and will be a nice comfortable reliable car as you know yourself from having one. Is there much of a wait to get one is it factory order or in stock? Best of luck with it anyway.
