Midsize Auto Diesel Saloon €6k

My Volvo S60 now has 340k miles on the clock and will need some work to pass the NCT so I'm in the market for a mid sized diesel saloon car. I do about 30k miles per year so it needs to be reliable and be able to take another 100k miles easily enough with regular servicing. Engine wise I'd like to try and stay at 2.5l or below, but would stretch to 2.7l at a push. 40ish mpg would be nice. It absolutely has to be auto. I would like to try and keep the cost to about €6k.

I've been driving Volvo's for the last 15 years and the obvious choice would be another S60 but automatics are rare enough. I have been thinking about perhaps an older S80, or an A6 or an E-Class, but I don't enough about them.

Any advice on how reliable the e220 or A6 2l are? Any other suggestions?

It's stick with the Volvo to be honest. D5 engine is very reliable and the S80 is a comfortable cruiser for 30k miles per year. That model of E Class doesn't have a great reputation for reliability and the 4 cylinder diesel engine in the A6 would be unrefined and noisy in comparison.

I bought it this morning. It's in good condition for what is essentially a ten year old car, few months NCT, paperwork to show the belt was done, no sign's of any smoke when putting the car under pressure (I had a mate follow me during the test drive), no accident damage that I could find, Cartell report came back with no issues, so I reckoned it was worth a punt at that price.
