UPC connection dropping ?

So in a last month or so my upc connection started to drop without any reason multiple times a day, have several PCs and tablets and all get affected. If i run network check on Win i get cant communicate with primary DNS server, cant access cisco router as well when it happens.

My main pc is connected trough wifi dongle as the rest of laptops etc,but ive noticed if i do torrents and close software internet comes to a crawl and just times out eventually before losing connection.

Also seems if new device is turned on to network theres sometimes issues with windows needing to fix ip to different one-not sure if related.

only option that solves it ,is manual modem reset-since i had similar issues many times, but this one starts to annoy me since its happening 2-3 times a day now.

Anyone with similar issues or advice thx.

    yes Cisco EPC3925.

Went to upc site to see that one can change new channel under wireless tab, mine was at 1,changed it to 6.not sure if its relevant to situation, but can see at least another 4 neighbors on upc.

Get a fan, strap it to your modem. Problems will disappear.

Have to say that indeed ive noticed that router is working quite hot most the time, even thou its kept in a spare room, and collected god bit of dust over the years.just went to put my hand on it and def its quite warm for such a small device.

So its possible that its overheating and causing software to crash ?

I suspect one component on the board overheats as Ive put a temp sensor in the top of the case and even when its 28*C there it still happens. Havent got a thermal cam to find out which.

Cooling it instantly resolved all my issues, and it was already in a cool enough room(18-22* ambient).

it makes sense alright, since before i felt it being quite warm, and given summer weather and that its on 24/7 for years, wouldn't be surprised some parts get worn down.

Can i ask what fan did you stuck on yours, and what way powered it ?
Since theres spare usb,but couple fans that i have take only 12v.And as i know usb only takes 5v,that might be enough, but read that have to be careful of amps, since id want something to be there 24/7.

Wired an 80mm PC fan to a USB connector. 5v 500mA is plenty to power it to low revs which is all you need.

Getting the same thing the last few months with my epc3925.

Started the first week of really hot weather we had.

Attached a USB fan that pushes a good bit of air. It happens less now but still happens.

I can still connect to the router when it happens over ethernet and wifi but no internet.

Reproducible every time it happens is that downstream channels 6,7 and 8 all lose sync and show 0 power level and 0 signal to noise ratio.
Reboot sorts it every time with 6,7 and 8 re syncing.

Really don't want to change it out as it is in bridge mode to a decent asus router.

If I contact UPC what router are they offering at the minute as replacements? If I have a choice of models can any of them be bridged as easily as the cisco?

Interesting, I'm getting the same thing lately with my EPC2925, and I have noticed it runs hot.

Mine is probably about 3 year old at this stage.

Very odd! Mine is 3 years old this month. It's got to be component failure of some kind. Is yours on the same software rev?

    Bootloader Revision: 2.3.0_R1
    Current Software Revision: e3925-ES-12-c1100r5593-140522c_upc
