I've just fine around my house and checked all the door locks. I have one door where I can put the key in and it locks from one side only but the key won't turn the other side. I have another door where the lock shaft misses the home and hits the edge off the metal plate on the door frame.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks

Problem 1: The mortice lock (key entry point) could be damaged. Easiest way is to replace the lock.

    Remove 1 handle.
Remove the spindle (square bar that goes through the door).
Remove the 2 screws on the edge side of the door
Remove the lock mechanism and replace (probably 10€ in any builder suppliers)
    Refit other parts

Problem 2: Relocate the metal receiver on the frame. It's most likely just a fraction out of alignment.

Check the outside key hole and make sure it lines up with the lock, if it does then buy a new lock...
