No - they never seem to be around when I puncture.

They're very rarely used, but typically Cannondales.

    Canyon Ultimate CF now.

(Much of their use goes unknown as it's not captured on TV).

Nice spec but just mechanical ultegra. Would the pros even bother?

Some even have toe clips too. Can't cover every clipless system too easy.

I'd say they'd be more worried about the toe straps. The vast majority of pro's these days never had any experience of them.

That's one of the things I was wondering about, how do they cater for the 3 or 4 different type cleats /pedal systems ikely to be used by the various teams/riders

"oh thank God you're a life saver, hold on one second that's Ultegra, nope I'll wait until my team car catches up to me, I'm not bloody riding Ultegra"

I'm sure if they were in a situation where they had to use one of these bikes they'd be more than happy with Ultegra. Complete waste of money putting anything more expensive on them.

maybe you were joking, can't tell.

    Thanks for your useless input.

sense of humour fail? Anyway, you're very welcome. Although, had you googled it, (or even clicked on the link I posted) the first link would have shown you that they are canyon ultimate bikes, with mavic pedals, or top clips, all running shimano ultegra groupsets.

Didn't Jensy(as they insist on calling him on ITV) ride a kids bike for part of a tour stage to catch the gruppetto after he crashed a few years back.

Maybe I should use the device @lennymc linked.... :-)

They are typically only used in emergency situations when the team car is not immediately available or not permitted on certain sections. A rider will generally use the toe clips to save time rather than wait for a pedal change. (They have all pedal types available to fit if required. The neutral car which travels at the front will have bikes set up for the most likely contenders. The spare wheels are fitted with 10 or 11 speed cassettes in Shimano and Campy.

I'm not sure about the neutral motorcycles as their space is limited but I presume they monitor the leaders and adjust their wheels with the car according to who is out front and what system they are using.
