A new house being/going to be built or an existing house?

And which side are you increasing?

Short answer, based on the info supplied, yes you need to reapply for planning.

If it was big enough that you needed planning on the first place, then the extra 1200mm is significant to warrant a new application.

You could apply concurrently with the building works ongoing if they have already started.

I'm waiting for planning permission on the drawing I gave them it's a new build and the first application was referred back to me looking for further information. So I don't want to rock the boat now when I'm already in the middle of getting it. However I would like to increase the size of the plan's I gave them.

New planning application required after you get your final grant of planning which is 4 weeks after the decision date.

    Or....

If you haven't submitted the further information yet,

Contact your agent to talk to the planner.

You may be able to submit new plans with your FI but you would have to readvertise and put up a new site notice. Depending on the content of the FI you may have to readvertise anyway.

If you have already gotten a decision and are just waiting for the grant you could also ask the planner if the alterations are considered material. You would need new drawings reflecting this and if the planner is OK with it the new drawings would go on file.

4 feet is generally a lot, if its a mansion it may not be and not be material to the decision.

This depends on the LA. They would likely require it to be done as a new application. This permission would be 'ammendments to previoulsly granted permission..... Explanation black bla bla'

Most LA would only charge 34 euro for such an application. It is another 3 months though....

I wouldn't recommend just doing it anyway. LA may not notice, but you may have trouble getting it signed off on for building control.
