Neighbors New Nosiy Boiler

    Hi ,

My parents next door neighbor has recently installed a new boiler system . It is extremely loud and kicks in several times throughout the night , causing them to wake and being unable to get back to sleep. From what my dad has said about the boiler he believes that it is burning some form of crude oil/fuel and not regular fuel ( the neighbor in question is Russian and to say that he is a chancer in general would be putting it lightly ) . He is renting the house , but he has been making a lot of "alterations" to the house , maybe even insulating it from the noise he knew the boiler would cause.

What course of action is open to me here ,is there a law on noise pollution at night from boilers? What are the relevant authorities that deal with this sort of thing? I will approach him first prior to going to the relevant authorities , but tbh I am not expecting any satisfaction from him as I have dealt with him before and he has little concern for others and can be aggressive .

Any advice on how to handle this would be great . I just want him to not use the boiler at night , I don't want it to escalate if it can be avoided but will do if he will not cooperate .

    Cheers

I'd be more worried about the air pollution and the fumes from crude oil boilers. Apparently there very harmful to humans as far as I know. The guards would know more about the noise pollution

It's illegal to burn waste oil without a permit , or give it to someone to dispose of who is not licenced

3000 euro / 12 months penalty - see poster thingy attached

Not only is it illegal, but the toxins released from the process are highly dangerous and could be cancerous.

You can make a complaint about the situation to the EPA and they should deal with it.

Thanks for all the replies it's much appreciated .

Is there anyway of confirming that this is indeed a crude oil boiler ? tell tale signs as such? My father is positive it is a crude oil boiler and he would know about these things but don't want to go jumping the gun and causing further animosity with the neighbor .
