So a guy in something that's been lowered and fiddled with so much I can't tell what it is - is driving around the estate. Fair enough he's actually pretty courteous after a fashion, in that he drives relatively slowly - not that he has much choice with the speed bumps and the fact that this thing is about 2" off the ground due to what I think is a snow plough attached to the front.

The issue is the exhaust, I think he's trying to make this thing sound 'sporty' again not an issue but he's obviously not very good at navigation so goes round and round and round the same spot out here in Kilbarrack. What the max noise these things should be making? Roughly - like give a real world example :)

He's not taking the hint at a few of us staring at him and the local kids over taking him on the bikes and shouting 'Nice Car Mate' which I think he was taking as a genuine compliment rather than the sarcasm of a nine year old. Any suggestions on letting him down gently? It's obviously the lad's pride and joy and I don't want to get shirty with him in asking him not to drive it round the place. I certainly don't want to get to the stage of reporting him.

    I would live and let live, honestly I would but it's 6 - 20 times a day.

What is the car, probably a slammed tdi bora with a boost blow off fitted and a 'never been' or 'nurburgring' sticker on the boot.

For the sake of clarity you are taking this post in the tone it was intended!

Shout over to him when he's passing..."do you know there's a bad hole in yer exhaust bud".

Maximum allowable noise from an exhaust is (or was) 99dB. U can use a decabelometer to check.

Thats pretty loud tbh, maybe it's legal then. In that case I will have to live and let live.
