    Hi all,

I am using the fta satellite tuner on an lg tv 32ln575v. There are two transponders on which I have a full signal which contain loads of channels but, when doing a manual tune, only one or two will tune in.

These are specifically 11568 and 11553,these contain travel channel and capital tv respectively. I have full signal, tried deleting the transponder and then adding it again followed by a manual search, but only 1 or 2 channels will be found.

Everything else is perfect. Any ideas? It's driving me mad! !! Thanks

You may have already tuned in the channels you are looking for, and could be on your list. But they may not actually work because of recent changes with the transponders.

If this is the case, you should delete any non-working channels before trying to tune them in again with those transponder numbers.

Or else, try a factory reset and start from scratch.

Go to Settings > Satellite > Auto Tuning

Then you go through the choose satellite and the type of scan you want.

After that a box will pop up asking if you want to retain channels already tuned in which of course you do.

It will then find all the channels you are missing but you will then have to use the edit function to move them back to the number you want.

    Works fine

I am thinking of buying an LG tv with sat tuner, is it difficult to switch between sat and saorview.

I own a LG Smart TV 42LN575V and have been using it connected to the sky+ box since I got it.
Recently, I decided to setup it up for Saorview, no issues at all, picked up the signals via a roof aerial.

So yesterday I connected up one of the cables from the dish to see what it would pick up through the satellite input.
After doing a scan it picked up hundreds of channels in no particular order.

I read up about editing the channel list and found that there is a hidden menu that lets you save the existing channel list to a USB.
Downloaded a program to my PC called Chansort and plugged the USB in. Opened the channel list through the program and sorted it into a more organised list, plus deleted many channels. Saved it back to the USB.
Opened the hidden menu and uploaded the new channel list from the USB.
TV shutdown, restarted it and all the channels were there in the order I wanted.

EPG looks good and is easy to use, 7 Day on Saorview and Now & Next on Satelliite.
Haven't used the record function on either Saorview or Satellite.

Changing between Saorview and Satellite could be better, this is the quickest I've found LIST>RED BUTTON>ANTENNA or SATELLITE>OK
Pity that there is not a single EPG for both or even a one button press for switching between them.

After checking I found that I don't have those channels either, travel channel+1 is there alright.

    HI delta,

I had to go for the nuclear option and build the list from scratch, an auto tune selecting the delete channels option did the trick. In some cases I could delete the old transponder, which would delete the channels and then add the new transponder. There doesn't seem to be anyway of deleting individual channels. But for others that wouldn't work. It seems the sheer amount of changes confused the tele somewhat.

So after a bit of pain all sorted now, thanks for the suggestions.

We use it as the main tele at our holiday home and absolutely love it. Switching between saorview and satellite using the above method is painless enough once you're used to it, I believe it's a lot simpler than the Samsung teles. The lack of wires and boxes and remote controls is a huge bonus

I'd be interested to know how you get to this hidden menu?

    Choose any TV channel
Press and hold SETTINGS button on the remote control until TV's menu appears, disappears and channel info appears.
Quickly release SETTINGS button, enter 1105 and press OK.

You can only record on a sky + box if you have an active subscription. Therefore if only using a sky+ for fta you cannot record. You can record to usb with some lg and other tv's with satellite tuners.

Or you can buy a box such as the Manhattan Plaza hdr-s or foxsat hdr by Humax which allow recording but for full functionality you will require two sat feeds from the dish, this will allow you to record one channel and watch another at the same time.

Thanks for the reply. I do have an active subscription but have that in another room. The fta channels (bedroom) is a direct feed from dish. So my best option would be?

Your options are - buy a Humax / other box as stated above by steveon. Or you could get a multiroom sub with Sky ensuring you get a Sky+ box and additional cable fitted if you want to have full use of the Sky+ features. Alternatively you could buy a second hand Sky+ box on Adverts.ie and then ask this guy if he has any cards that can be used for recording. He used to sell them for about €50 I think

Presumably you can connect an external hard drive and be able to pause/rewind/record just like most new smart tvs
