It's a good while since I got bored with the drag racing scene but at the time there was a ridiculously fast starlet of all things putting down amazing times, I'm sure that's still knocking about in some shape or form.

The scene was never huge here due to a crap selection of tracks, the only place with timing gear at the time was up north, could well have changed by now mind.

John T Murphy in West Kerry, a homebuilt car that is very very fast, no records of anything beating it.

If you are including the North of Ireland in this I know of one particular Mk3 golf that is pretty quick off the mark :)

Drag racing in Ireland is very hit and miss! poor enough tracks and even poorer weather conditions means that track grip levels rarely ever come close to what they would have in the U.K and America. Bishopscourt I think is probably the best but theres a few others tullow, abbeyshrule and the likes, they're sound for racing and different meets like that but really for highly accurate timed runs Santa Pod in the U.K is the only job!
I think the fastest FWD car in Ireland was a 1.5 turbo starlet from down the south it's supposed to have ran 10.6 @ 133mph on the 1/4 mile at santa pod.
I think the fastest run ever in Ireland was a 4wd skyline gtr at around the 8 second mark. An evo has gone close to that time aswell. Irish tracks don't have the grip for record breaking rwd cars.
