I'm constantly running into the same issue every day where, as more devices connect to the modem, some of the other devices may drop their internet connection. The maximum number of devices might be 10 - 12 but I'll usually encounter the problem at around 6 devices.

Firstly I thought it was down to maybe when one device goes to standby a "new" device takes its IP address meaning when the device in "standby" wakes up its IP address is already taken by another device. So I gave all the devices a static IP address - still the same problem.

After that I thought that maybe it was down to the DNS so I switched to Google's. Still the same problem. So I don't know what the problem is but my thinking is that maybe the modem is just so lightweight that it can't handle that many connected devices. I've attached a screenshot with the memory usage running pretty high with 8 devices connected.

DNS wouldn't do a thing, as if it's down to your devices using too many local IP addresses, it'd be the DHCP setting set too low.
    I doubt it's that.

Is the modem hot, it might not be able for that many devices at once, perhaps you should buy a router to handle the routing in your home. I'd recommend it anyway personally.

Memory isn't your issue, and I doubt its routing. The 659b is a reasonably well speccd unit.

All your devices are on 2.4ghz, chances are this is just wifi congestion causing their leases to time out. Move some to 5ghz.

Can you explain this a little more? I would've thought that if a lease timed out then the device wouldn't be able to connect to the modem. In all cases each device can connect to the modem, but only some can access the internet. I can login to the modem from all devices.

When using Chrome the problem manifests itself as, when trying to access a webpage, Chrome's status displaying "Resolving host" and eventually complaining about a bad DNS config.

Edit: So it's happening now to at least 2 of my devices so I've switched them over to the 5Ghz...same result, I'm given an IP address and can ping the router but can't access the internet.

Oh I misread the symptoms, ignore above.

First thing is to try disabling Upnp.
