I was walking out of a pub the other night and a Geordie woman stopped me to tell me how skinny I am and it looks awful. Jokes on her though cos I kicked her in the face.

Drenching the toilet seat in a half gallon of sour piss and walking off leaving it for the next person. I'm talking public bathrooms here, pubs, airports etc. I'd say about 80% of the time when I go to use a cubicle in a public convenience , the seat is wet with stale piss.

I think you'll find the headphones and phones rudeness is almost uniquely confined to the younger generation.

I find tarring everybody in a group or demographic with the same brush is rude.

When working behind a desk and dealing with someone already, someone else comes right up to ask a question (normally a "quick" question). Get back in line, you cnut!!

Personal space invaders are the worst, I can hear you just fine from over there, not pressed up in my face.

Jumping the q in a shop.
Unable to make a decision at the counter.
    Fumbling forever for change.
Complaining about how long it takes to get served.
Put them all together, and I want to water board you. (Don't actually do this at home, or anywhere)

Sitting beside me on the bus, when there is a free seat you can have to yourself.
Stopping me on the street, when I make it clear, I don't want to be disturbed.
    Chuggers just no.
Asking me to buy you a drink, when, I don't even know you.
Standing on the street with pictures of anything dead.
    Unwilling to work.
Snoring on a plane or bus. (will get whipped on this one, but I think if you know you snore, don't sleep in public, that's what your bed is for)

At the air show yesterday I seen a woman struggling to push 2 small children in wheelchairs through the crowd (she was trying to manage 1 wheelchair per hand) and people clearly seen her and refused to make way for her, far too busy to risk looking there place in the queue for a gourmet hot dog.

Before anyone says anything I did help her.

Not making eye contact with everyone in a discussion.

On topic, some old people can be terribly self-important with their "I'm old so I'm more important than you". It can be terribly rude.

Oh my God. That poor woman.

She didn't stop you to tell you how skinny you looked. She stopped you to tell you how canny you looked.

It's North Eastern English slang for something good or nice. There is no bigger compliment than being called canny.

Morto for ya. Summons in the post I suspect.

    This.

I also hate when people are constantly late. We all get delayed every once and a while but not always.

I hate it when people don't cancel and just do not turn up.

'Twas always thus. Aristotle complained about young people and ear phones.

Yeah, minus the face kicking part. I just said "what a charmer" all moral highground whilst kicking myself (in the face?) for not being able to come up with anything quickly.
    He's back folks!

Sorry to disappoint, I've just read the "boards legends" thread :)

    Tardiness.
    I can't abide it.

Fair enough we all get delayed, but if I was meeting someone at a specified time and I was going to be five minutes late then I'd ring or text at a bare minimum.

It's incredibly rude to just happen along at whatever time you happen to show up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32,688 ✭✭✭✭ytpe2r5bxkn0c1

    The ironing is delicious.

You might want to read what was posted. I did not say all young people were rude by wearing headphones or using phones while in conversation. Merely that those who do are more likely to be the younger rather than the older set.

Isn't it very rude when somebody tries to get a cheap shot by misrepresenting something you said?

Well they can't leave the tills open/ leave money lying around the till while they wait for you to pack them. What they should do though is help you which I have seen in my local dunnes!

They don't have to leave the till open, just either put the change down beside the groceries (lots of places do this, I don't mind it) or just hold it until the person is finished (M&S staff do this a lot and so must be trained to). Trying to give someone money whilst they're packing is rude and the next time someone does it to me I'm going jump up on the shop counter and start acting like a monkey in the zoo.

Yeah, hate the sour, stale stuff meself, could they not leave sweet, fresh urine behind?

Workmates - all university educated professionals - that still think it's OK to leave dirty fcuking skid marks in work toilets or leave the toilet seat soaked in piss.

    Fcuking horrible.

Like I said, my local Dunnes will help you pack, but I don't see how giving you your change at any point is rude. You gave them money, you know you're expecting change, just stop bagging for two seconds and take it from them.

It's rude because you're busy holding the bag with one hand, packing with the other and then all of sudden you have a hand full of change that you need to pocket before you can carry on packing.

    Habitual lateness.

    Being rude to service staff.

Leaving shared toilet facilities in a state.

Not holding doors open for someone directly behind you.

Not thanking someone who's just held a door for you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,116 ✭✭✭Salty

Because it's such a huge surprise that if you give more money than you're meant to give, you're gonna get the difference back.

What you're describing really isn't rude unless the cashier has some kind of attitude and they're trying to rush you or something.

Queue jumping! Drives me insane. I have recently encountered on a couple of occasions old biddies who seem to think that their age/dodderyness should send them straight to the top of a long queue.

I have to admit though that my intolerance of this behaviour recently led me to have egg all over my face, when I gave out to a queue jumping teenager on a waterside who barged in front of my 7 year old, pushing him slightly whilst doing so. I could only see her from behind and started to let her have it, she turned around and was quite obviously special needs. I have never felt like such a cnut in my life.

When your telling someone a story and they interupt you to tell a similar story that happened to them except their story was way better or more exciting/dangerous or whatever (in their opinion) Those people should be made dead instantly.
