MHRV - Local Boost/Odor

I planned on installing an MHRV system where a central humidistat detects humidity changes in wet rooms and automatically boosts the extraction rates. This replaces the need for local boost switches.

But what about odor extraction. Sorry for the imagery, but unless someone is sweating buckets on the john, the boost will not kick in.

Possible solutions could be the tried and tested opening of a window, or making gas masks available. I've also come across cisterns (concealed) that allow for odor extraction when ducted into the MHRV system, or to independent fans.

Has anyone taken the approach of just relying on a central humidity detector in bathrooms, or given this side of things any thought?

maybe still fit an extract fan, to deal with the morning constitutional boost? Not as much heat to be extracted from that air stream (compared to a shower)

Not in the cold of winter, unless it is to throw said mvhr salesman out said window.
I have a solution with a toilet also planned for my garage. I will just tell my wife to use that one

:eek: What about my airtightness targets!!
Don't you know that your house is likely to fall down and the world will end when you do this. Imagine the embarrassment if this happens when you are sitting on the throne

Could speed up proceedings somewhat!

Any reason why you can't duct the boost extract fan to the hot return of the MHRV unit?

Or another one - can you put a boost button in parallel with the humidistat?

Since originally posting, I ran cable for local boost switches. I won't install anything until I needed as I just don't like the look of them, plus I've been told the humidistat 'should' work.

Re. ducting the extract fan into the return of MHRV..I take you are talking about a separate extractor? I'd say this is a definite no-no as could cause all sorts of issue when balancing the system.
