International Sort Centre in New York. Standard place for it to arrive. Should be trackable on USPS.com now.

In my experience everything that I have posted to the States is delivered from Ireland to the international sorting centre in New York in about one to two days. However it can then sit there for any random length of time before it goes out the door and will then get to anywhere else in the states in another one to two days.

In other words the NY sorting centre is a bottleneck. Sometimes things pass through it in only a couple of days but some times it is a few weeks. However on average I have found that door to door from Ireland to anywhere in the states is about 7-8 days.

All you can do is keep an eye on the USPS website and cross your fingers.

thanks a million its nice to hear someone with a positive experience with the place!...seems to be only the negative reviews that end up online!

Still no update, should I be worried yet?

There is no point in worrying as there is nothing that you can do about it. All you can do is check the UPS site once a day and see if there is any progress. It hasn't even been one week yet. On average it takes 7-8 days but it has been as quick as 3 days and as long as 20 days. You have no control over it. It might arrive a bit late but it will get there. I post dozens of parcels to the states each year and nothing has ever gone missing.

If you need to prove to someone that you sent something you can send them the tracking number. Using that, they will be able to see when you posted it from Ireland and see that it is now up to the US postal service to deliver it.

People love to complain - doesn't matter whether its a post service or a hospital, they'll jump online and complain - and even complain if its 100% their fault.

If address is properly written and legible, it will arrive, doesn;t matter whether its New York, New Delhi or Newcastle.
