    What ones spring to mind?

My favourites (I'm taking the piss) are the:

    1. Respond to every post with a set of questions poster.
    2. Pretend to be going out for drinks when loosing an argument poster
    3. Disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing poster.

Posts a link with indignation and has clearly not even read the link themselves.

The "I'm never wrong.." despite it having been made patently clear that they are.

The virtual hard men. All talk and no trousers, as granny used to say.

    -Scanlas
    -Not Scanlas

    It's split fairly 50-50

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

The 'I'm not anti-muslim/women/immigration/frogs' poster, who starts a thread detailing why he thinks frogs are bringing about the downfall of civilisation to get a few digs in, under the guise of concern.

    The 'serial stupid thread starter'.

Not you OP, but AH has 3 or 4 of them who seem to start 90% of the threads on here.

People who write rambling walls of text in a pathetic and obvious effort to hoover up 'thanks'

People who answer everything with one or two lines because they are on a phone, and more importantly, they have a life

    I'm the latter. :)

The type that no matter what the thread is about derail it by bringing up something about the dole/Muslims/immigrants etc.

Those who don't have kids suggesting how other people should raise their kids.

In "work problems" threads.....most common answer 'leave your job'
....as if there are thousands of jobs out there.

Two you can come across here:

A: This thread is full of posters saying (outrageous thing).

B: Really? Can you point out some of these posts?

A: Sure if you can't see them, there's no point me highlighting them

    And another I noticed recently:

A: It is a fact that (insert claim).

B: Really? I'd like to see evidence for that. Do you have a link?

A: I think you are posting nonsense so I will not waste my time posting a link for you.

Fishing exercises. They drive me round the bend.

You make some banal statement, stating fact you happen to know and they respond with pithy questions. So you explain.

They ask for proof. Then you have to go off and track-down some obscure .pdf file in the internet's undergrowth to satisfy their curiosity.

You present them with proof, all goes silent, and then ... they come at you again with a totally different set of questions and hissing new things they want you to prove. All the while, they contribute nothing.

When I'm King, I'll have these wastrels rounded up and put in the workhouse where they will be forced to sweep the sunshine off the roads with toothbrushes.

    The link /proof merchants.

Where asking for link /proof isn't actually to illuminate an informal discussion, but as an obfuscation tactic to 'win' arguments and buttress an agenda.

For example, prove that Marty was in the 'Ra, etc.

That works both ways, with people who think that posting a link or video is case closed. To me, it shows they have no argument of their own, and no understanding of the topic.

Black/White or Love/Hate thinking. Example: the Angela Merkel - bashing thread a couple of days ago, I hinted that she might have some reason to be a little annoyed. Since I fell short of absolute condemnation, I was immediately accused of trying to "beatify" her (other poster's word). So, the Chancellor of Germany is either a Saint or the Devil herself, nothing in-between is possible.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

    Mod note

We are not using this thread to have a go at individual posters. Posts like the above are not welcome.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

rereg accounts we know of and ban and non-rereg accounts we don't know of and wait to ban

That and people who argue for a bit then leave it and people who literally argue for days, if not weeks, over the same topic.

No. Think about it good and hard now. Start with the thread topic and work forward... there you go.

Oh, I have one. People who don't read thread topics.

Similarly themed / titled threads to ones which are currently active is a little baffling.

Rob ideas from another online forum if ya must but from the same one just makes you look like a big copycat.

You managed to bring Irish Water into a thread which has nothing to do with Irish Water?
