    Hi

Excuse my ignorance but I'm looking to get Saorview and freesat into the house. I recently bought a ferguson Ariva 252 Combo box. I already have a dish on the side of the house with two cables coming from same into my old sky hd box (No longer in operation).

I realize I have to get a Saorview arial. Once I get the arial and run it into the house what do I do with the two cables coming from the dish?

There seems to be only a connection on the combo box for one of these cables.

    Any info appreciated.

I'm no expert but I assume you connect just one of the cables and just watch/record whatever channel you are watching on the satellite. The other cable is to watch something else when its recording maybe this box doesn't have that option.

I had a look at a pic and there is an lnb in and lnb out, just connect the cables to them.

One cable goes in to the lnb in. The other cable is redundant as the Ariva 252 Combo box only has one feed required. If you had a Freesat box that could record and watch a show simulatanously it would require the 2 cables to be connected to allow this and would have an LNB1 and LNB2 input.

No, you don't connect a cable from the LNB to LNB-out.

As mentioned already, just connect 1 of them to LNB-in of the single satellite tuner this box has. Sky+ box has 2 satellite tuners.

If you're recording a satellite programme with the Ariva, the only other satellite programmes available for watching will be those on the same transponder/multiplex as that being recorded, although all Saorview will be available for viewing. (The free satellite channels must be spread over about 50 transponders.)

OTOH, if you're recording a Saorview programme, the only other Saorview programmes available for watching will be those in the same Saorview multiplex (there are only 2 of these) but all satellite programmes will be available for watching.

ok I'm not up to speed on these things anymore, I just saw that this box and my arivia 120 and the lnb in and out terminals, and both my lnb leads are connected to them. Anyway hope nowt blew up and bill on way to me:D
