Experience after steriod injections in back?

I recently had thoracic steroid injections for a chronic SI joint problem. I got good enough relief for a month, but now, two months later, the pain has gradually come back and is now almost as bad as before. However, I've noticed that where my pain used to always be isolated to the lower back on one side only, I am now also having occasional pain in my middle back and also on the opposite side to before. As well as this, my shoulder blade and neck have been very stiff and sore for the last week, I didn't do anything to injure it and never had neck pain before.

Has anyone experienced a change in pain type after these injections? I'm scheduled to see the specialist again in 6 weeks so will ask him then but am curious in the meantime.

It is a pain management specialist who does the injection- you'll probably need a gp referral for your local consultant.

Yeah, my first injections only lasted a month too. Had the second lot today, dr wasn't too hopeful but I'm crossing my fingers that they'll work cos the next step is rhizotomy which I don't want
