What shower brand?

Our 11 year old Mira Elite shower has just given up the ghost. There seems to be a huge choice now and I'm getting confused.

The shower is tank fed and I'm looking for an equivalent to replace it with. It needs to be electric and I'm not bothered about what it looks like, more that it is decent quality.

The only brands I really know are Mira and Triton, are these still the best ones to go for??

We work on close to 1000 electric showers per year. This includes Installation, replacement & repair. I can tell you that the Triton T90Z is the best pumped electric shower on the market. The T90 has been the best since it first came out in the early 80s I don't doubt that the above members haven't had a great experience with their individual mira elite showers.

Here are some facts: The plastic used in Mira shower is cheap, it cracks & breaks easily. Ive often had to replace a Mira Elite 2 or Mira Elite ST because the casing is cracks & letting in water. The cheap white plastic goes a dirty yellow after only a few years. Triton stays white for its lifespan the plastic is stronger & doesnt break.
When something needs to be repaired in the Mira the parts are double the price of most Triton parts. Solenoid for mira €50 / Triton €25. Pump for Mira €115 / Triton €70. Element for Mira €110 / Triton €70.
The mira Elite 2 came out in 2000. In that time we have worked on around 13,000 electric showers. Statistically the mira gives 20% more trouble than the Triton T90 & has to be repaired & replaced 25% more often then a triton.
Even the service agents for Mira showers in Ireland " the shower doctors" offer a supply & fit of a Triton T90Z on their website but don't offer to do the same with a Mira Elite ST. This company handles any Mira shower repair in the warranty period & even they think Triton T90Z is a better shower than the Mira Elite ST.
Some people will try tell you that the Mira Pump is quieter than a Triton pump. Here is where they are wrong, They have the same motor in both. I can take a mira motor & attach it to the triton plasitc pump. They are the same motor, made in the same factory.
There is a reason that Triton have always been the biggest selling electric shower manufacture in Ireland & the UK. There are 10 Triton T90 showers sold in Ireland for every 1 Mira Elite shower.
Mira got a great name for the old dial on the wall shower (Cartridge shower). They still make great Cartridge showers. I'd say they are number one at these still. For the best power shower shower on the market it has to be the Aqualisa Aquastream but if you want the best pumped electric shower on the market it has to be the Triton T90Z, hands down, every time.
Lots here will disagree with me here but all of the above is fact based on thousands of showers & not one or two saying I've had my mira for 20 years & its great.

I suppose I should point out that we install & repair all showers & don't work nor have ever worked for Triton. This totally unbiased & based on fact.

I think mira showers have lost its way in the irish market.not so long back the mira sport shower was cheaper than the mira elite, now its 50 euro more expensive.it doesnt make sense. So yes i agree that triton are the most popular shower in the market

A great point. A mains fed shower more expensive than a tank fed one. That shouldn't be. The tank fed shower has an extra part in it. It has a pump. A pump they charge around 115 Euro for. Just doesn't make sense.
