so i got my credit card bill, why do some transactions have this fee and others not.
Multiple purchases from the UK and only some are charged this.
One from china and no fee.
One from Luxembourg it has a fee.
There does not seem to be a pattern as to why some transactions have it and others don't.

What currency where they billed in?

A company based in the UK, billing you in Euro will not have a fee.

A company based in Luxembourg billing you in GBP will, as it's not in Eurozone currency.

I have a Mastercard and when I pay for something in sterling, they convert the GBP amount to Euros using the interbank rate and then hit me with a 2.25% 'cross-border handling fee'.

Whether your bill mentions it or not, you will always pay a cross-border fee for non-Euro purchases. If it isn't explicitly declared, it will be buried in the exchange rate which will be some % off interbank.

    ok thanks for replies.
I will be careful from now on, don't want to give the bank a penny more than i have to.
