Hi guys, so i have been trying to get broadband forever, currently i have three mobile wifi, but it has a monthly allowance of 60gb, which just isnt enough for me, the speed of the wifi is fine, but i just cant take the 60gb limit anymore, all the houses around me have pretty fast eircom broadband however i cannot get it according to eircom, according to my dad the telephone pole across from my house has always had problems with wires falling down and stuff, he says were just on a bad wire, but i dont know if everyone around me can get it why cant i, its so unfair, can eircom not just install a new bit of line or something? im honestly just pissed of at this stage because i know there is broadband in my area but typical that my house cant get it..is there anything i can do? thanks in advance :)

just to help you understand - https://goo.gl/yg6114 if you look at this picture (sorry its small) my house is circled in blue, all the houses circled in red have/or are able to get broadband, so should i not be able to get it? also i forgot to mention, i did have dial up broadband a couple of years ago, does that mean anything?

Your probably on a carrier line. Eircom will install a new line for in and around 120 with no guarantee of it holding broadband

Its unlikely to be a carrier, getting dial up on a carrier is very problematic as far as I know.

The line could be in disrepair, or it could be running the other way to your neighbours.

Ask the Talk to reps on the eircom subforum here on boards politely if they could check and see why you arent prequalifying for broadband.

Ed E, houses both directions from my house have got broadband so surely its not to do with it running the other way? and if the line is in disrepair, should eircom not fix it up?

Keep reporting noise on the phone line until they bring it up to spec for broadband. They wont do anything without being prompted by you.

Thats a good idea, only i don't currently have my phone line connected, i cancelled it because i couldn't get broadband and didnt really use the phone
