You will need to get the list of approved contractors from Irish Water / the council water department. That list may vary from county to county.

We applied to Irish water for permission to make a connection but they nor Kildare Co Co have given or can give us a list of contractors.

Our builder can't not do it either as he is not covered by his insurance for road openings. He has also told us, having never worked with KCC, they the Co council usually make the connect when building in Louth, Meath and west Meath

    My recent experience in Meath.

Apply to County Council who then forward details to Irish Water. Pay the fee to Irish Water then they send out the job sheet to Meath Co Co who instruct their crew/subcontractor.

As a matter of interest what was the fee ?

If you have paid your Planning Fees already these included Water Connection so basic fee of €190 payable to Irish Water.

If not, then your looking at around €2750 IIRC again payable to Irish Water.

Hence why the double dealing with two operations, the Co Co and Irish Water.

Planning fees, development charges and connection fees are separate.

Okay so. My recent experience tells me different but keep going.

my planning development fees didn't include a water services charge. Irish water have quoted me a fee of 4,800 to connect to the water supply. There is nothing special about the site, water mains going straight by it.

Yes, since Irish Water hav taken over these water connection fees have moved from the Co Co jurisdiction into the Irish Water umbrella. My fees were paid before Irish Water inception, hence the €190 fee stated above.

Seems quite steep to me? Water mains ran outside my house albeit on other side of the road.

Latest info is that KCC will make the connection for 190 once we apply for a road opening licence and have a traffic management plan in place thanks for all the replies

As a matter of interest cikearney did you pay a water contribution as part of your development fees ?

Wasn't specified but the levy was nearly 12700 in full

*in all, 50% before you can send in the commencement notice and 50% no later than a year later

Hi did you get someone in the end for this? Could you pm their contact details? We've to connect to the water on the far side of the road as well and haven't been able to find a contractor in Kildare to do this.
