Hurling - but not as we know it

3 inter county matches at the weekend produced a total of 3 goals. Tipp did not even have a shot on goal. Short puckouts and sweepers at the back. Running at defenders rather than around them. One attacker being marked by three defenders. The ball being thrown rather than handpassed. No contested puckouts. Potshots being taken from 100 metres with a load of wides. Is anyone else concerned about the route hurling seems to be taken? What can be done about it.? Puckouts must be past the 65 metre line? You must have a minimum of 4 attackers in the opposition half? Would hate to see hurling go the way of football with its blanket defence, I am a traditionalist and like to see man on man contests, contested puckouts, 6 forwards. Any thoughts?

Team implement tactics because it helps them win games.

The idea of going man for man and only focusing on attack is idiotic in this day and age.Tactics can help teams compensate for any deficiencies they may have, there is nothing wrong with it and in my opinion it makes a sport more interesting.

The biggest problem hurling has in my opinion is that the ball can now be pucked too far and it reduces the amount of actual hurling that takes place in the game.

Yeah, the ball it too light these days. Proposing to make it heavier is unlikely to be popular, so preventing it becoming lighter in the future is important in my opinion

Could it be argued a heavier ball that travels less distance also has a higher impact capacity... Thus making it more dangerous to be struck by?

I already feel sorry for goalies getting hit as I'm sure its a hell of a lot more painful then a football and if they're struck down below I'd wager its a dangerous circumstance...could imagine their plight with a heavier ball.
