Every Warning Light On - Ford Focus '06 - 1.6 Diesel

    Hi guys,

Recently, I could be just driving normally and all of a sudden the "limp home" mode will kick in on my focus. All the power is restricted and every warning light comes on in the dash.

It can happen from a standstill as well, if I try and start the car, all the engine lights will come on and the car won't turn over. The strange thing is this can happen, a few minutes later everything is fine and the car runs as normal.

I have seen people with similar issues online, but could not find out the root cause of the problem. When i tap the dash though, all the warning lights disappear and everything runs fine. And this work 100% of the time. One tap on the dash and all the power is back and the lights go off.

I just want to know if anyone can tell me where the issue is? i don't want to fork out a load of money to a dealer, before knowing what's causing this, as it seems to be something very small.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

I think the dashboards are problematic on some Focus models, I can't remember details but I know someone I know had to get some kind of work done on the electrics associated with the dash.

I'd be asking a local independent, preferably a Ford specialist if you can find one.

Check the two plugs are fully secure on the gem module/fusebox which you will find up under the glove box in the passenger footwell.

The two connections are side by side i think its the brown one that may have come loose and is causing your problem.

Worth a shot -seems to be a common cause of weirdness.

Sounds more like a faulty instrument cluster if the lights go out when you tap the dash.

Its a common enough problem on that year of focus.

Thanks for the response's guys. I think faulty instrument cluster sounds about right from what I could find online about it. I'm going to pick up some electronic contact spray and give the PCB a clean and see if it helps. Saw a guy on youtube do this and hasn't had any issues since.

Replacing it seems to be costly enough...
