Hi,

Looking to trade up from my 02 diesel golf to a newer hatchback.

Maximum budget would be €14/15k

Mileage is about 15-20k miles per year

I've been looking at diesel cars but I'm not sure if petrol would be as economical given my mileage ? Most of my driving is commuting to work,30 miles each way, driving on R roads, motorway driving would be once a month.

I've been looking at Mazda 3 and Kia Ceed. Looking to get at least a 12 reg for my budget with a decent spec.

Need something thats nice to drive and comfortable as well.

The Mazda 3 is as nice to drive as hatchbacks in that class get, but unfortunately the seat isn't the best in them, so comfort isn't fantastic.
Maybe a Subaru Impreza diesel? Rare, but decent.

What about a Renault Megane. They have a 1.5dci diesel engine. Very reliable engine and the mark 3 Megane is a very good car too.
