There are several free ware text to speech offerings search and try some. As far as voice is concerned the Scottish Education Authority have developed a voice 'The Scottish Voice' whilst it's free to Scottish school children it can be purchased for a modest fee.

My daughter is dyslexic and found that voice much easier to listen to than the usual mechanical sounding American ones.

Audacity is free ware and will record sound from a variety of devices.
