Prague is an absolute gem IMO. Small, beautiful and cheap. Dying to go back.

Vienna is another one I miss. Beautiful city.

Copenhagen. Had an absolute ball there. Great atmosphere. Loads of little jazz clubs scattered around.

    Berlin aswell. Mighty craic altogether!

    Munich

Beautiful city with lots to do. The public transport is superb and the city is very cycle friendly with cycle lanes on almost every footpath.
Munich reminds me a lot of Ireland with all the lush greenery. I love how there is an abundance of parks and green areas.
A short drive will take you to the beautiful Bavarian countryside.
There are plentiful cafés and bakeries with lovely cakes like nothing you'd find here (much cheaper than here also). The beer gardens and sausages are great also.
If I were to live in a foreign city I'd pick Munich. People there seem very relaxed unlike London which although I do like, is very fast-paced and stressful.
Munich is a highly underrated city in my opinion.

I have seen Berlin mentioned a lot here and having visited Berlin and Munich, I prefers Munich.
I imagine Vienna is nice as well although I have never visited there.

I'm generally someone who doesn't like trying to repeat things so I'm a bit averse towards revisiting anywhere but, yeah, gotta be Berlin over and over and over and over. So much going on there and it really feels like it's evolving like crazy, the kind of place that's gonna be quite different each time you go back for a for a good few years yet too (not necessarily in a wholly positive way, mind).

Pretty sure I decided that I'm going to be moving there next within a few minutes of arriving.

Montreal also. Great town. Paris. Seville.

Rome is great, I would like to go back to Berlin because I haven't been so long (96 or something), I tend to go back to Venice for different reasons and sometimes it feels nice and other times it feels like a complete kip. Ljubljana seems to get better every time I visit but I could be a bit subjective there.

Montreal for non annoying French vibe, Mexico City because I had great time there but I suspect I could be disappointed next time and NY because there is so much left to see.

Just in case you are serious, Montreal is indeed in Canada, which is part of North America.

Olhao, Portugal - so laid back, by the sea, coffee, bars, seafood.

Chefchaouen, Morocco - mountains, scenery, food.

    Berlin. Barcelona. Nurnberg.

What's Russia like, is it safe to go there?

As long as your stay out of the way of all the bears on unicycles, you'll be grand.

I see a few votes for Vienna.

I found it far more beautiful than I expected, grand on a scale that would rival Paris. But Christ I thought it was boring at night time.

Ive been to Antigua twice for a few days each and its fantastic but its tiny and I cant see it being a major draw to travel all the way to Guatemala to see again.

Derry, Great compact city, plentty of history, nightlife etc.
Edinburgh in the summer for the fringe.
Florence - Most beautiful city ive been in.

Has to be Montreal for me. I lived there from 94-01 during graduate school and absolutely love the place. Amazing mix of Europe and North America. I miss it terribly but did manage to go back in May for a couple of days.

VEGAS!!! Vancouver, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Liverpool, Newcastle (last 2 for a piss up!)

Was't a fan of LA, well most of it anyway.

Berliners are lovely people as well.

    lol

I think you are maybe the first person to have ever said that.

Anyway, Berlin was one I was going to post. See it's very popular, lives up to the hype tbh. I've spent more time there than almost any other city I've been to.

Would also never hesitate to go to Leipzig

Dresden deserves another visit, I think.

Copenhagen was great, wasn't too sure what to expect but a few days turned out to be waaaaaaay too short. Need to come prepared with lots and lots of Kroner....

I'd never turn down a trip to London, always find something new when I go there.

London, Paris, New York. Very predictable…

I just find those cities have a real pulse that excites me.

I'm actually really looking forward to going back to Amsterdam as a recent weekend there was way too short and I was largely ignorant of how lovely it is.

Nottingham - Very underrated city imo.

Vilnius - great little city, plenty to see & do. Direct flights from Dublin. Not as expensive as some around Europe you can get a beer for around €2

London - Lived there for 18years would hate to think I would never go back

Amsterdam - You don't have to go for the cafes or red light district, so much to do plenty of culture

    Ljubljana - Beautiful city

Hamilton ( New Zealand ) Had such a great time down there, will go back to visit again someday

Liverpool - Home of the Beatles & my beloved Liverpool FC. Great place to spend a weekend

New York, because I've been 3 times but have only scratched the surface and have never been in autumn.
Paris and Amsterdam because I visited them as a young teenager and saw very little of either but liked the vibe of both.
All of the Irish cities, because they all have their charms :)
Oh and Liverpool, spent half a day there and saw only the airport, the train station and a bit of Chinatown and would've liked to see more!

    Cities you'd always return to

Bruges, stunningly beautiful. The most romantic small city in Europe without contest.

Vienna, the most romantic large city in Europe in terms of culture/galleries/museums. (Rome & Paris close runners-up) I wish I had stayed there longer, and that I had gone in the summer when the stunning palaces are open.

I didn't expect much from Venice because of the hype but walking around the narrow streets on the third day I came across Dorsoduro. It had an air of peace, calm and tranquillity about it that made it a million times more attractive than St Mark's Square. I'd go back to Venice again, but this time to rent an apartment in Dorsoduro for a week.

Also, the Christmas market in Strasbourg was so amazing I'd be afraid to go back in case the memory would be ruined. Strasbourg is little known in Ireland as a romantic getaway largely because we don't have direct flights to it from Ireland, but you could get the train 70km away to see Colmar while you're there. That's enough romantic destinations, I think.

Agree. Definitely do one of the tours of the islands - it gives a fantastic perspective. Of course, nobody goes to Stockholm now without seeing the Vasa ship museum. It's deservedly acclaimed by all the tour guides. It would be great if we had an Irish equivalent.

Trailfinders is for the tourists. If you want to really experience somewhere really book the flights and guides yourself.
