Can people not just enjoy the moment without setting up a camera to record every "spontaneous" minute?

Televised events you wouldn't mind, but reactions when you're there is worse.

Was at Fleetwood Mac Fri night and the amount of fcuking retards talking during some of the greatest songs in the history of songs would make you want to take a samurai to the fcukers. What is wrong with these people, a hundred fcuking euro a pop and they don't even want to heard the God damn music. What's next, recording yourself having sex with someone and then posting it online. It's happen, folks, it'll happen.

People have become so blasé that we need to find new ways to trigger emotions.

Best line I've seen on Boards in quite a while. For some reason I read this in Withnail's voice.

And to think it pretty much all started with Planking and alike.

Since 'that' wedding in Game of Thrones a couple of years ago people record themselves watching every episode and whenever anything shocking happens (which is always, it's Game of Thrones) they completely lose their minds crying, screaming, jumping and just acting like eejits. Fair enough, the initial major twist was worth recording but it's obvious people are just overacting to every new twist just to get views.

... would make you want to take a samurai to the fcukers...

    I'd watch that

I've never seen any sporting reaction videos on Youtube (if you watch one, Youtube will keep recommending more!)...

However I've noticed an endemic of nerds reacting to the new marvel trailers and movie trailers in general. Like you mentioned, really over the top reactions...

And let's not forget about Pewdiepie, a guy who plays computer games and over-reacts to them -- for a living. I mean fair play & all if you can monetize something (#hashtag not begrudging!) but I'm shocked that people will watch someone sit play through entire a game they might have already played themselves.

Ultimately the audience watching is the problem.

There were two standing in front of me id say they must have met at the concert. The flirting was going on between them the whole time, then right towards the end at 'Silver Springs' they started shouting talking. I told them to shut up twice, they didn't, so I pushed them out of the way and took their spot and said "stand back there if you can't shut the fcuk up". Absolute posers they were.

You forgot 'Irish' in the title. It's always there. 'Irish mammy'. Not to mention the 'Irish lads'' reaction to Conor McGregor winning...of course they were unaware they had set the camera up

I see something similar with my kids watching them eejits narrate their way through minecraft.
I mean, its one thing to waste your life away playing videogames. Its another to waste away your life watching someone playing videogames!

What I despised was the people posting reactions to the trailer for the new Star Wars movies. If you burst into tears when you saw Han Solo and Chewbacca (again) or an X Wing (again) or heard the theme music (again) which is what most of the reactions seemed to focus on then there is something very, very wrong with you and you need help.

I know some people who get their enjoyment out of showing others that they "experienced" a moment, or bought something, rather than enjoying the moment or the product itself.

I wonder if its rooted in self confidence issues, as one lad in particular who I know who's infamous for it certainly suffers in this regard, but I just don't know.

Its very much the Facebook, trending to Instagram and Snapchat, generation. And I say that as someone who's age demographic would include me in all of this.

I still don't really get it though. When I'm having fun or really enjoying a moment, the last thing I think of is taking out my phone.

Articles about Twitter posts made by Cian Healy, Ian Madigan's girlfriend and other vacuous publicity whores are now considered quality journalism.

When the Irish Times folds, Clickbait.ie will take its place as "the e-paper of record".
