Amazed to see that Russian Soul is as big as 8/1 tomorrow at Dundalk (4:15). It drops down into what only looks like a slightly better than normal regular handicap. Ardhoomey is the current market favourite, and while it looks like an improving 3 year old, it was very lucky to get the better of Russian Soul last time out, which ran out of racing room, which cost it 2nd place. Only worry is whether it needs an extra furlong, but the quality of the horse and price means I am willing to take the chance.

The 4:15 at Dundalk is a very interesting race. My good brother should of won last week but got hampered twice so I'm hoping he can do it again today.
Calm bay in the same race I don't think can be ignored and has a nack at winning at big prices here. His last win was over this distance not too long ago carrying a lot more weight.
That said I'm putting calm bay in double with Rogers other horse strand field lady.

Lawsons Thorns in the 4:55 is one I have been watching for awhile now and I'm convinced that this one has a win in it at some point over the Summer. Not sure today is the day for it, but Powers have gone 20/1, so can't help but have a small bet. Have worries this one might not stay the trip, but there's plenty of juice in the price to take a chance.

Roving Lad another big priced pick in the 5:15 at Sligo at 22/1. A winner off a mark at Sligo over hurdles 3 years ago, this one is down to its lowest handicap rating ever. Recent form is garbage so this one may never get back to the kind of level which sees it winning again.

Liam Glynn on racing post podcast tipped two horses this weekend, Eshtiaal yesterday and The Welsh Wizard today (Sligo 3.30 12/1)

Gary Hanmer has his first runner as a rules trainer in the bumper at Southwell - Donttellthemisis. Knowing Gary he will be keen to make a good start and the booking of Tom Scudamore is interesting. Might be worth a small ew @ 33-1.

Had a long post written out but it didn't save. Three I backed Pierre D'or 10/1 second at Dundalk, Strandfield lady in the second last at 16/1 and Some Officer second last at Sligo 10/1

    Rev Up Ruby 8-1 2.30
I'm liking this for a ew
I think it can compete for victory in this group. It has run decent races
    of late.

2.00 Crofton trail....speculative bet really as the favourites look good. I have a feeling this horse in time will win a few races, its past form doesn't look bad and if taking to hurdles it might a least grab a place at 18/1.

2.35 Black wolf run could be a class act to beat, especially going by the form of his recent races. 9/4

    Goodluck

I am told ishebaergrey is very strongly fancied in the 3rd at dundalk.

Have pc on his picks would have backed strandfield lady any way. Think the 16s is huge

Had a long post written out but it didn't save. Three I backed Pierre D'or 10/1 second at Dundalk
Shaped quite nicely but ran out of steam at the end. Will definitely back this one if it runs over 6f or 7f.

    Doppler Effect at 22-1 3.45
I think it has a great chance to get off the mark here. I t has been unlucky in running
last 2 races. At 22-1 its a value ew bet I think

Anyone wondering how Dennis Hogan ended up with a Sea The Stars gelding? Small punt for me at 5/1, the way this one won last tine was eye catching.

really want to back that but the drift has put me right off
wondering does a drifter from the hogan stable ever win, am guessing rarely myself

Thought that alright Francie the trip was the big concern, and he probably fared better than the bare result having actually tried to go for home against a winner who obviously had a lot in hand. He should go in soon (massive drift too)

    Roman Numeral 12-1 5.15
The two runs its had this year should have gotten it back up to speed. I
expect a good showing here, ran consistently good last year.
At 12-1 its a lil ew bet .

Great call francie> Did I follow of course niot. The 10s available earlier today was a gift. One I stuck my nose up at.

Yep, I could not understand the price. Russian Soul has won big international races that the field could only dream of entering.
