Sinead Kavanagh landed a devastating walk-off KO to reach the womens final. It's absolutely glorious. I'll try find the video...

I was staying in the linq my first two nights and went across to this and have to say it was a fantastic event!! Frans looked savage in his fights I got to speak to Tyrone woodley after he sparked the ATT fighter and he was extremely impressed with frans...he'll go pro after this surely?! I got to have few drinks with Gallagher and crosbie after seemed like sound lads but I don't know why kiefer was there if it was our best welterweights competing or was it only open to sbg fighters??

Sorry, I call him Franz. He never notices, it's quite a subtle 'z' rather than the 's', but it's there. :o

He's one of a bunch - James Gallagher, Tommy Martin, Dylan Tuke - of our best ammies who are all about to turn pro. Some at the BAMMA card coming up.

Frans has what I regard as the perfect setup for an exciting MMA fighter. He's been striking for years - his hands are fantastic. He's also a quality athlete. His grappling has been his weakest area, but he's been getting better in leaps and bounds as far as his defensive grappling - which he uses to keep the fight in his range. His offensive grappling is also coming along very nicely. He recently got his blue belt before they all went to Vegas. But he gives EVERYONE fits - even very accomplished grapplers, because he literally never gives up. I've never known a man to scramble for position as well as him. He's relentless and an absolute pain in the hole to roll with - in the best way possible.

It's easier to teach grappling to someone in their 20s or older, but someone who's been striking since he's a kid really has a massive leg up on how to move in and out, head movement, foot movement. You can teach them to strike, sure, but if I was to choose one over the other to have started to master sooner, it'd be striking first.

Their performance speaks volumes for the standard of irish amateur MMA. I fought Frans myself a few months ago and we went to a very close decision (2 rounds to 1).

TBH, Frans' level is after shooting up a few levels in these past few months and weeks - regularly sparring the Interim champion will do that, though. He'd murder the him of a couple months ago at this stage. The standard is pretty decent, though to be fair.
