So will Global Warming offset Solar Cooling?

Great, so what are we paying carbon tax for... We should be pumping out more to keep us warm.:D

    Climate change not global warming.

So will Global Warming offset Solar Cooling?

There is no such thing as global warming as the Earth was much warmer in the past before we came along.....it's all climate change in cycles.

The globe is always warming and cooling there is dam all we can do about it. Unless we invent some kind of terraforming tech.

That's completely illogical. Just because the earth was warmer in the past doesn't mean we aren't contributing to current warming.

How are those climate models working out. Name one that has even been close to predictions.

We need to take action now, burn as much fossil fuels as we can to heat up the earth so it can run on less sun, I propose zero excise duty on all fuels and grants for buying V8 petrol cars which get less than 15mpg.

I know, right?! And like, last winter there were a few days where I was sooo cold. And then these guys talk about global warming? Pfft.

But seriously, models are never going to be spot on. The important thing is there's been an upward trend in global temperatures. If you want to argue it isn't due to us that's a different story, but saying it's not happening at all is pretty much up there with creationism or flat earth on the dodgy science scale at this stage.

Never said the climate is not changing, I dispute the whole it's man's entire fault. I have not even heard a number out of any of the Climate lobby's mouths about how much we have effected the climate. 10 odd years ago the Big bang was accepted as fact pretty much, now it's being challenged. Science moves on maybe in 10 we will actually find out the cause of this climate shift.

Apologies, I picked your posts up wrong. I get a bit annoyed at the whole 'it's our fault and anyone who suggests otherwise is literally Satan' crowd myself.

That's one of the problems, You don't seem to be allowed to question this new Religion. There are yes total nut jobs who will deny everything. But I fail to see how me paying to offset my carbon on a plane is doing anything. That plane is flying to the destination with or without passengers.

You know that was a mistake right, there was no pause or slowdown. The trend is very much still upward, and as fast or faster than it's ever been. Global warming is still happening, climate change is the result.

2014 was the hottest year on record according to NASA

9 of the 10 warmest years on record have occurred in the last 15 and 2015 is heating up to knock 2014 off the top spot.

Banner reads in "Modern History" How long have we been collecting written records again ? Sure the medieval period was warmer. Sure the Thames in the UK stopped freezing over a while back should we all build evac shelters ?

Very true and when science stops challenging and asking questions, then it is no longer science imo.

There is no such thing as global warming as the Earth was much warmer in the past before we came along.....it's all climate change in cycles.

That's possibly caused by the Sun's solar output weakening and strengthening every now and again, but climatologists are studying the ice caps and they say they're melting faster than ever. Most of our heat is stored in our oceans and the sea temperature is rising: http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science/indicators/oceans/sea-surface-temp.html

If this trend keeps up, then's there no denying that climate change is happening.

Over 98% of climate change scientists of good repute believe that the current raise in temperature globally is caused by human actions. People here I'm guessing have zero scientific training yet still feel confident enough to say that global warming is not humans' fault. Your entitled to your informed opinion, not your own facts. Please do some research before you come out with such nonsense please.

A climate scientist's job is to study the climate, not to find evidence that human influenced global warming is a thing.

Don't expect to cure anyone's ignorance on here. I've banged my head against that wall before. Some people just want to believe in conspiracies so badly, and hate on professionals in equal measure. Anti-intellectuals basically. Mouth breathers with inferiority complexes hiding behind internet connections. They think they know better than people with the required knowledge, training and data to come to a conclusion.

You're honestly only going to be frustrated by certain individuals. Just a friendly warning, trying to be reasonable will only see the conversation become more puerile.

And their data and figures and conclusions are always authoritative and correct, right? Even when they are in error, and contradict each other and the visible bloody evidence that it is pissing rain in the middle of bloody July and I've had to put on the god-damned immersion for the first time in months because my solar has failed to heat my water?

Just because the most influential scientists currently live in the middle of the desert on the west coast of the USA doesn't mean squat.

TLDR? Where's the blooming sunshine?!

What CT would that be ? Why are loads of scientists asking for their names to be removed from that over inflated UN report ?

So if the next big threat to our climate is an issue with the sun, surely all the climate change as blamed on human activity is rather insignificant if the Change in output from the sun which is outside our control is going to have much more effect on climate on earth.

Not sure I agree with global warming or climate change stuff....but I am 100% certain we shouldn't be polluting the planet with greenhouse gases burning fossil fuels etc. Solar or renewable power all the way.

Hope these scientists have their solar cycles wrong....don't fancy a freezing cold decade in a few years time

whats the story with the whole in the OZONE LAYER that was caused by young lads spraying too much lynx , it hasn't been mentioned in years . Have they filled it in or what or is it just not in fashion any more

CFCs have been banned since about 1995. There are still polluting compounds in aerosols but nowhere near as damaging as CFCs.

Wrong ..... Grunge killed Hair Metal (apparently) therefore Kurt Cobain saved the Ozone layer.

Scientists are always wrong, says the man who's using a magical machine filled with billions of tiny transistors sending data instantaneously to strangers across the globe, to dispute data collected by machines which study the Earth from tens of thousands of kilometers away in space. All created by... scientists.

I didn't ask about cfc's , I asked about the whole in the ozone layer is it filled in or gone away or what . If cfc's were banned and the OZONE was fixed the scientists would be gloating about how right they were.

Really. I thought last winter was a lovely winter. It was quiet mild. Barely had to turn the heating on at all. I hope we get another winter like that again this coming winter. If you want a cold winter go back to 2008-2009 and 2009- 2010. They were cold winters.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

A ozone layer is in recovery

    from wiki
On August 2, 2003, scientists announced that the global depletion of the ozone layer may be slowing down due to the international regulation of ozone-depleting substances. In a study organized by the American Geophysical Union, three satellites and three ground stations confirmed that the upper-atmosphere ozone-depletion rate slowed down significantly during the previous decade. Some breakdown can be expected to continue due to ODSs used by nations which have not banned them, and due to gases which are already in the stratosphere. Some ODSs, including CFCs, have very long atmospheric lifetimes, ranging from 50 to over 100 years. It has been estimated that the ozone layer will recover to 1980 levels near the middle of the 21st century.

It has now roughly stabilised and is expected to return to pre 1980s levels by about the middle of the century if things continue as they are. So, problem tentatively solved.

Not sure why you would expect anyone to gloat, seems a bit juvenile.
