    i'd say we've all read some of the stories on that site with a wry grin from time to time. Simon certainly does have an interesting turn of phrase, but this has to be one of the strangest ones i've seen on there.

    The worse part of this to me was the teenaged way he tried to dispose of them. He could have surrendered them on landing or disposed of them singly over the stopover in Germany,

    Yup. That's really the only thing that should get him in trouble. Forgetting that you have ammunition with you is stupid, but if you have the necessary paperwork that lets you bring it as far as the cockpit then it's something that the folks on the far side would be willing to deal with reasonably.

    Especially considering how understanding and easy to deal with the Bundespolizei are when it comes to firearms. Odds are that it would have been as easy as "Sorry lads, I left these in my bag" "Grand so, we'll dispose of them.".
