Job searching getting me down

In How do the rest of you keep going while job searching. It's been 8 months since I was made redundant and it's really getting me down. I genuinely thought that I would have a choice of jobs but it hasn't worked out like that. I thought my experience and work record were valuable. I've upped my skills, done a job net programme, applied for lots of positions. I had 2 interviews last week , one I wasn't pushed about and one I really wanted. Interview couldn't have gone better but I was devastated to get the rejection letter on Monday. How do you cope when you feel that no one wants you.

Edit. I did find a job and am technically still employed by them . However, once the backlog of work was cleared the owner cut my hours in half. She has since closed the business for a summer break and left me without work for 6 weeks. I really do not want to go back there. I feel I'm worth more than that

You are worth more than that. In fact, your worth has nothing to do with your job. You sound like a great worker. Sadly the owner who cut your hours is probably struggling with the business economy which is still difficult at present. It probably has nothing to do with your performance.
Now the main thing is not to give up. Job offers come to those who keep trying. If you give up, you definitely wont get an offer!! Are you using your entire network of contacts - does everybody who knows you know that you are looking for work and that you are the person "who can do...". Keep knocking on those doors. This experience will stretch you and it is always darkest before dawn. I wish you every success. Walk tall!

Thanks a million Babyslam, it's great to hear positive and encouraging words. I was having a particularly bad day when I posted. I had just received a rejection letter following an interview that I seriously thought I aced.
Sound advice about contacting people, I can think of 3 or 4 people who I previously worked with and have no idea I'm job searching. I'm going to contact them all this week. I've also accepted an invitation to an event on Friday where I know I'll be introduced to lots of new contacts. I'm going to make a point of telling them I'm looking for work. No more feeling sorry for myself. Thanks for the encouragement, I'm putting the heels on and I'm gonna walk tall !
    Many thanks
