How can you be in college and on the dole for the first time? Is there not a function in place to find people who are on the dole through the college?
Family member just quit his job this week as he got a college course and id adamant that the dole office cant check if hes in college and collecting

If you're asking how to deceive the social welfare office, then I'm not sure why you'd expect someone to help you.

There are circumstances where you can legitimately get dole while in college, or the equivalent.
    • If you are doing a Springboard course and qualify to collect dole while doing so.
    • If you qualify for Back to Education allowance
    • If you are doing a part time course which does not prevent you from seeking a job.

i can see how someone may be able to fiddle welfare in this situation if they're willing to pay the college fees and not declare themselves on jsa. even though a person has to give their pps to enrol, it's not linked to sw.

but it would be impossible to attend college and claim welfare if that person expects sw to contribute towards fees.

why don't they just do the right thing and apply for back to education allow or vtos. those schemes are there for a purpose - to help and encourage perople to come off welfare and get a further education.

If this person is in college fulltime then he's not entitled to the dole and will be caught. The social are getting much more on-the-ball when it comes to discovering welfare fraud.

Why doesnt the person just apply for the Back to Education Allowance?

When on the dole, you can do part time courses but not fulltime, as the conditions of the dole state that you need to be seeking and available for fulltime work.

AFAIK you need to be claiming jobseekers for 6months or a year before you qualify for BTEA or VTOS.

Am actually not asking how to deceive anything  i asked is the dole not linked up to colleges to stop this fraud? i thought they where already.

I was just asking the question as he is quite sure of this and has already give in his 2 weeks notice which for me is unreal
