Visiting Canada from the USA

I am going to the USA next week for a short one week trip. I will be based up near the Canada border so I was wondering, would there be much hassle in crossing into Canada for a day or two. Do I need a visa in advance? Thanks.

You don't need a visa at all if you've got an Irish passport
