Clerys menswear clearance of stock in a pop up shop on Parnell St, where Peats used to be.
I was just there and it wasn't too busy yet, lots of stock left.

It's Bests who are clearing off some stock, although it says Clerys on the billboard.

Where does the money from the sale of the items go to? If it's to the Clerys shell company/organisation I have no interest but if it's to Bests or another concession holder I do.

Wonder if they accept Clerys vouchers, got one two days before they closed the store...

It would be the concession holder as they were opening the store to allow them back to retrieve their stack according to Newstalk the other day.

Nope. If its the concession holder, they were shafted by clerys. They were tenants who were caught up in it.

If that is the case we probably shouldn't buy anything from Amazon, anything from China, any sportswear brands etc.

its a good point and we probably shouldnt be but sure we all have to live. the world market has become a very complicated place. we really should be supporting each other though and not allowing these situations to happen. the treatment of workers out there is terrible

If it was bought with a credit card you can get a refund from the card company.
    Not sure about debit cards

Visa Debit has the exact same chargeback right as Visa Credit.

Why ? Its unfortunate what happened to the workers, but people aren't going to not shop there if they are selling decent products, at a decent price.

Folks its Bests that are selling the stuff not Clerys. They retrieved their stock from Clerys and are clearing it out rather than storing it. They need to recoup some of their losses.

you ve just hit the nail on the head. its a lot more than just unfortunate. its actually a very serous problem. if we re willing to allow things like this to continue to happen, we all better prepare for ourselves to be treated like this in the work place. we cant allow these kind of things to continue to happen just so we can all get a 'bargain'. something has to change in the system to safe guard those affected, including staff and suppliers. its a very complicated problem but it is a problem

Lots of jeans but not sure about boocut. Most seemed to be straight or relaxed fit, nothing too 'young and happening'

Why not just redistribute the stock to their stores rather then setup a popup shop to offload it?

I thought they only honoured some? ie. if you had 50 euro they gave you 40.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,482 ✭✭✭Hollister11

Even if HMV didn't honour the gift voucher, people got their games, DVDs ect and left the voucher on the counter.

They didn't. It's just a namesake now. They considered them all to have the same nominated value. I think it was 10euro or something. The company HMV were bought by, didn't have access to the information regarding the value of those cards.
