    Hi,

I'm thinking of signing up with Atlantek broadband and am wondering if anyone knows of them or has had any experience with them? What is their service like? How reliable is it? Is it worth getting?

    All feedback appreciated.

    Thanks! :)

FAO: Mods, if this is more appropriate to the Broadband forum (or if you feel that I would get more responses there), please feel free to move it. Thank you.

I use a fixed wireless supplier because that or 3g is all that is available in my location. I get 10mb down and 1mb up. It is reliable and certainly significantly better than 3g.

You would need to speak to someone reasonably close to your location to ascertain what service level they are experiencing.

You also have to have clear line of sight to the mast.

Thanks for that but I am looking for feedback specifically related to Atlantek Broadband, they operate in Mayo.

    Nobody else uses them??

IV seen them advertise a 1gb connection, no idea how they manage that.

Yes, that's a bit of a mystery alright... Then again, some of the things they promise also seem to be that way....

I was hoping that some of their customers might read this and offer some feedback on their service in terms of speeds, reliability, customer care etc. They can't possibly be as bad as Three, can they?

Hi Luminous. Yeah, signed up with them alright..........not sure if I can go into my whole "experience" with them here though.... lol

    Pros:

    - have delivered the speeds they promised
    - haven't had any major outages (think they went down for about an hour during a storm).....so far anyway!
    - are better than Three (both speed and uptime) and have unlimited usage (although that's another story)

    Cons:

    - customer service ranges from non-existent to beyond a joke
    - had an ongoing issue with them which they refused to admit was the case until a cancellation thread was issued. It was sorted within the hour!
    - €150 installation fee

In short, happy enough with them so far (not been a customer long enough to make a proper call) but they are only a stop gap measure - once Eircom goes live, they will be getting their notice! Spoke to a few people before taking the plunge and they are a real marmite company - people either get on grand with them or had major problems with them and cancelled. There doesn't seem to be an inbetween.

If you want more info, probably best to PM me.... ;-)

Atlantek bb used to be great. But i believe greed has gotten the better of them. We are in Enniscrone and up until February 2015, things were great. However, since then, the service is shockingly bad.....one minute its 2mbps, next its 0.07mbps.

Alan McGrath (the guy who runs the business) has been filing us with crap about upgrading his network for months now. His last boast was how they were installing 2 x 500mb links into Enniscrone...that was a week ago and all we have had since is sub dial up speeds.

Please please please, for your own sanity and nerves, avoid Atlantek. You will pay a few quid more for Vodafone or Eircom, but at least you will have a reliable service

Yeah, I've had pretty much the same experience. Customer service is appalling and there's always issues with it, ending up cancelling it. If you can get Eir/Vodafone, you would be crazy to go near these guys!
