My own unsupported opinion, and trying not to channel my inner-mod or my Catholicism.

On the one hand, it is good to have a dialog on the governance of a forum which could be funnelled back to the charter.

On the other, speaking as someone who has been posting here for a while, there is a very spirited (non-pun) level of discussion on the mostly Christian related threads. Thus there is rather large workload on the volunteer moderators, and historically there has been numerous turnovers of Mods here. So while have been excellent explicitly Christian Mods before (Excelsior etc) what is key is to have engaged and balanced members who act fairly within the Forum charter: which the current Mods are providing.

I feel our existing moderators do a good job in sometimes tough situations. If they are not Christian, they provide a good level of impatiality while still fulfilling the forum charter.

This has come up before. A few years ago there was an unpleasant episode where some posters were outraged that none of the moderators at that point was Catholic. There is no obligation on Boards to ensure that different groups are represented in a mod team. The only questions that should matter is if the current mods are interested in the forum and do they apply the charter fairly? As far as I'm concerned, the answer to both is a resounding yes. It isn't an easy forum to moderate at times, as I know from experience.

Yes BC your recollection is correct, and I was one of those who did call then for the appointment for a Catholic moderator and, or, a Catholic sub forum where Catholics could discuss issues with one another.

I think that the moderators here do a good job for the most part.

But the Religion and Spiritual section of this site would be improved with the creation of a Catholic subforum.

    MOD NOTE

Locking this as it's not germaine to Chrisitianity, but is rather a discussion relating to moderation of the forum.

If posters feel that the mod team aren't able to provide a certain level of moderation due to their respective religious/irreligious slant then the correct procedure would be to go to Feedback.

Brian_t has provided a link to an existing thread in Feedback about this very topic. I would suggest that people read it as it has input from Admins regarding the idea of choosing mods based on their religious beliefs.
