I have a mate called tom, but i recently started a job where the manager was called thomas, i had them both saved on my phone as tom and thomas and i text my mate instead of my boss saying do u have any work for a friend of mine, he said no but that we should meet up sometime and where was i, i said i'm at work, he said he was at a party, i was wondering why did he tell me that he was at a party when he was meant to be work, even if he was at a party why would he tell me, then i copped on, there must be some funny stories of the like.

Yes I once tried to send a raunchy text to girl but I ended up sending it to a different girl of the same name. The other girl is a colleague and I give her a lift to work, so needless to say the journey into work the following morning was a tad awkward.

Yep. Myself and my friend were cooking dinner for our friends from college. I sent a message telling one of the girls when to come up for dinner. At least I thought it was my friend. Turned out, I text a guy who's name was saved right next to my friends.

We ended up joking about dinner and me uninviting him, when I realised my mistake. An excellent mistake in the end because we will be together for 5 years in December :)

My ma is a horrible driver and picked me up from the airport, after nearly causing a crash on the motor way I texted my brother saying "our ma is gonna kill me with this driving" and guess who I sent it to? Yeah, my ma.

It's not far away, Dougal. It's small.

Sent a raunchy picture to the engineer looking after my car accident at 3 am by mistake. He never mentioned it. Cringe.

Was once on the phone to 'Mate A' who had been away for months. He was boring the sh**e out of me so sent a text to a 'Mate B' about how boring the call was. Realised my mistake immediately, tried to stop it sending and turned off the mobile I sent it off.

Then heard my mate get the text and sat there squirming as I listened to him read it.... awkward.

Back in the giod old Nokia 3310 days I composed the following text message

"I'm going to make you wet, then lick you dry"

Intended for my then gf (now wife) and sent it to my SISTER (they're beside each other in my phone). The millisecond I hit send I realised it and immediately hit the red cancel button. The few seconds between finding out would it send or be cancelled were possibly the longest of my life. I thought I was going to die. You cannot imagine the panic that sets in in that situation. Thankfully it didn't send. ;)

I was supposed to send a text with multiple pics of female hygiene product options to my girlfriend. Sent them to Carl (work colleague) instead of Clara (my girlfriend) with no explanatory text.

No, but was the receiver of one where some woman, mistaking me for her boyfriend told me to get my mickey checked out as she had a STD.
Passed no remarks but this was followed up over the next couple of days with the name of the doc she attended and how I must no longer respect her, then slagging off some polish one he was shagging.
I then sent her a text saying she got the wrong man, never heard of her again.

Very very nearly sent naughty text messages to my girlfriends mothers in my phone due to how they are placed relative to each other in my phone books - before I eventually hit upon the obvious solution of changing their names slightly to move them to somewhere else altogether in the list. They would have been very very embarrassing messages to send too had they gone through !

When I first moved permanently away from home, I had a flatmate called Stefan and my best friend is called Stephen so they're right next to each other in my phone.

One night, while a bit tired and emotional, I wrote a message to my best friend saying how great a guy he was, how I wished he was here with me now and how much I loved him. Obviously, I got the name's wrong and said it to my flatmate, who happens to be gay. Just said it to my flatmate the next day that I'd got the names mixed up and he said no worries. He was cool about it, thankfully.

Never sent a text to the wrong person but a few years ago I kept getting texts from some spotty teenager who thought my number was some girl's phone called Lauren.
It became a real pain in the ass because he would send texts like "Hi Lauren, wanna go out some time?" or else send selfies to me.

I would reply "wrong number" but he would think that it was "Lauren" joking.

Eventually I told him to eff off and he still didn't take the hint and then one day rang me. When I told him he had the wrong number, he said "are you Lauren's dad?"

One time, at the picnic, my boss thought my son Rolando was my son Ronaldo.

Not quite the 'wrong' person in the sense of mistaken identity, just the wrong person in every other way.

I went out a few weeks a go with a couple of lads from where I was working at the time. In my office, there was the main boss and then managers underneath him. A few days previous, I'd been moved from the one manager to an absolute bitch of a woman, let's call her Mary.

So I went out, enjoyed myself far too much, and at 4 in the morning, and I honestly don't remember doing this, I texted the main boss saying, 'can I move back to your team? I can't work with Mary, she's just an absolute bitch, I'm going to smack her, I could just kill her.'

Obviously it wasn't meant seriously, but I went into work the next morning (an hour late), expecting a bit of gollocking for being late. As I walked in, the bloke on the security desk said, 'Is it Thomas? Can you take a seat for me, please?' My heart starting racing and I vaguely remembered the texts. As my manager walked through the door and gestured for me to follow, I said, 'Can you just make it quick?'

That was the third time I'd been sacked from that company. But if that's not texting the wrong person, I don't know what is!

A few times, nothing major. I have sent the wrong word quite often though which can be more embarrassing. Often text my mother and say: 'Hey Man' that's a real cringer. Damn predictive text.

Had been dating a person for a month. I was texting a friend, talking about said person. I wrote a long text explaining what I liked about the person and what I didn't like about the person. Hit Send. Sent it to the person instead of to my friend.

    I almost imploded.

This was followed by a lengthy conversation about said text.... and we lasted another three months.

Yeah I text my friend "Well" but I was meant to send it to a different friend.

    Kill me now.

Does being on the bog, answering a phone call from your boss only to find out that it was actually an accidental Facetime call count?

    not exactly a text...
But myself and the missus were visiting our friends who have a son (he was age 6 at the time). This said child was on a tablet while sitting in the kitchen with us and chatting with his friend on skype via camera and voice.
After a few glasses of wine our friends started discussing how bad the food was in their friend's house last time they were over there.
As it turned out... Their son was chatting on skype with their friends' son... who was also sitting in the kitchen with his own parents.
Berating didn't stop until our friend walked over to the kitchen counter and saw her son's tablet screen...
Technology can be a bitch sometimes :D

Twice in college I accidentally gave a classmate my mother's mobile number instead of my own
