Air Con Fault - Audi A4 (B8)

Have an interesting fault with my air con and just wondering if anyone knows what's going on with it. Have it booked in next week to get looked at.

Basically, my aircon works on and off at the moment in my car. The aircon always works when I turn on the car but maybe after 15 minutes it just switches itself off. When I press the button to turn it on, the red light appears and just turns off straight away.

After another 20 minutes, it might work for a further few minutes. This then keeps repeating. I thought my air con needed a top up (it did) but this didn't sort it.

I've noticed one other interesting thing. My external air temperature gauge reading is now missing from my dash board. Could this be related to my air con malfunctioning ?

Worried that this could be a big outlay.

Mmm. It might be to do with climate control. It's possible that a malfunctioning cabin temperature sensor is causing this. In my own experience the air-con stays on and attempts to modulate the temperature, but you wouldn't know.
