I finished my university course at the end of May and didn't sign on the dole because a) I thought I'd be really quick to get work and had a lot of money leftover from the hea grant and b)I was informed by my local citizens advice office that I couldn't sign on unless I was 3 months post exams/course finished. They were wrong I now realise but I've been offered a full time job now and start on the 20th of July. The thing is that I now don't have a lot of money left and will probably only end up being paid after my first month's work. I'll be commuting and trying to get a place and so was wondering can JSA be backdated and could I get a payment for the time I'm not working I.e.now til the 20th?
