Weeds in back patio - Liscannor Slate patio

I have a back patio that it is about 15 yrs old, I have weeded it but all the mortar between each slab is gone. I believe there is some treatment you can get to put between each slate to prevent or reduce the weed growth on a liscannor slate patio, I cant recall what its called and what is it, any ideas?

I think was I was referring to is air activated dry latex product that you can brush into the joints, available in builders providers, does this sound right, if so, any idea is it difficult to do yourself if you are not a handy kind of guy?
