Any idea what these are like?
Are they thirsty or would they be fairly economical driven easy?
Would they be as hard as a Gti Golf on insurance?

Talking about new on both cars.

Asking for someone else as none of those would be in my choice of car.

Polo GTI is a 1.8 turbo now, they've stopped using the 1.4 super/turbo.

By all accounts a big improvement.

You sure that is the case in this country?
On the VW home page it still shows as a 1.4 ?

It's called a GT blue in Ireland. Both the GTI and GT use the 1.4 engine.

The GT Blue is rare on these shores, only ever sold one. Big lead times on them too, probably 4 months.

Polo GTI is deffo a 1.8 in the UK and France since earlier this year when they face lifted the Polo. Very unlikely that we have a special version considering they prob only sell 1 or 2 a year here, if even.

I bought one! It did take a while as I wanted a few options.
Came from a Golf Gtd and couldn't be happier. The new 1.4 engine is a cracker and plenty enough for a Polo in my opinion.
FYI the interior upgrade and anthracite alloys are a must!

From a quick look they don't have the GTi listed on the website, the GTBlue is fitted the 1.4 with cylinder deactivation and 150 BHP where as the GTi has the 1.8 with 190BHP. I think at the end of the day they're just a Polo with a powerful engine. For a sports car the Fiesta would be a better bet or the Cupra is getting the 1.8 from the Polo too

Did you buy the white one that was in Sinnott Autos in Wicklow ?

Blue GT seems like an interesting little car, excellent CO2 emissions and low road tax (very important in Ireland as we know!) plus a good dollop of power. GTI is definitely 1.8 and joy of joys is now available with a proper gearbox since its facelift, it was DSG only before that. The 1.4 was a twincharger yoke and that engine is renowned for its unreliability, oil burning, turbos, timing chain stretching, you name it, anything that can go wrong does.

By all accounts the Fiesta is the hot hatch to have if you're looking at the GTI. There is a case to be made for the Blue GT model, though.

Despite being in the UK for over 2 years, I've never seen a Blue GT and they buy much more interesting versions of cars than we Irish do! I've only seen a handful of GTIs, but I've seen a truckload of Fiesta STs.

Nope. I ordered from factory as I wanted the dsg and interior upgrade.
