Spending a week between Prague and Budapest and with some unexpected costs I'll be working with just over 20 euro a day spending money with accommodation and travel already paid for. As a student backpacking on my own is this enough to get me by?

Stick to budget restaurants and you'll be grand.

Even though Prague is cheap, €20 a day is pretty low. I'm sure you could get by but just don't expect to be having any nights on the booze or going to any paid tourist attractions. And if you're staying in a hostel, avail of any cheap or free breakfasts/dinners.

20 in prague wont go very far...but definitely possible if accom already paid for. You can walk to a lot of main sights and places. 3€/5€ for a pint depending on where you are.

Easy to get by on that much you will just have to avoid the tourists spots. The supermarkets are super cheap maybe get food there for two days and then go out the next so you still get to go to some nice spots. If you are staying in the City Centre you might find you need to go for a bit of a walk to find the more affordable places around the square its basically the same sort of money as Ireland.
