Hello, Today when getting my car ready for it's NCT I decided to put some diptane in the tank. When closing the outer flap, of the fuel filler the latch failed and now this does not click in. The inner flap is still there and working it's just the decorative outside piece.

    Thanks.

I tired that, it keeps springing out.

It could hardly fail on this, no safety issue what so ever.

Tape it over. It will pass.

    Glue it temporarily?

Maybe you could rig up something with an elastic band or something?

Item 50 (no. 9) in the NCT Manual.
'Check that a fuel tank cap is present and of the correct type. Check that the fuel cap seal is present and is not damaged'.
I'd take the cover off altogether if it's easy enough to get at the bolts.

But not on the fuel cap, rather the battery was not secure!!
