Cremated cake :(

    Hey guys

So I tried to bake a maderia cake last night following the Odlum recipe. I stuck a 8" round into the oven at 150 for 1.5 hours, but after 1 hour it was completely cremated- and cooked in the middle.

Did I get the timing wrong? Or is it time to look at the oven as the culprit?

Do you have a fan oven ?
If so you need to cook it at a max of 130 degrees.
An hour and a half seems quite long though, I usually cook my madeira cakes for an hour.

Thanks Alf66- I've followed this recipe before but this oven must be different! This is the recipe I've been following.
It's so burnt it's barely usable for just munching at home.

Will try 130 later and hopefully it'll work great!
