6 hours in JFK

I have a 6 hour layover in JFK before returning to dublin. We should not have much luggage and will have checked in. Is it feasible for us to leave the airport and go somewhere nice for lunch without putting ourselves under any time pressure? If so where?

Are you planning on getting married during the six hours? If not, I think you may have posted this in the wrong forum.

JFK is noted for its poor transport links. It's about an hour by express bus to central Manhattan (Grand Central); the bus runs every half-hour. So, there and back, you should allow, for safety, three hours travel time. Assuming you want to get back to JFK an hour before your departure time, that would leave you two hours to find a lunch place and eat.

But, if your onward flight out of JFK is an international one, you might want to be getting back more than an hour before take-off.

Or take the E train into midtown. Not relying on traffic being good then. Also yeah it'd be tight but definitely be able to get an hour or two in NYC.
