Really muggy here in Achill too, but at least the sky seems to be clearing a little. It was very dark and cloudy with patchy rain all day.

Much better day here in kerry then recent days even with the few showers.

Got up to 20.0C in a steady SW'ly bringing plenty of cloud and sunny spells in off the Atlantic with much lower humidity then of late.

Only 0.2mm of rain here but a few more showers back West around Dingle but short lived and only added to the fabulous scenery.

Had sustained heavy rain here in E Cork yesterday evening for 3 hours. It felt like 20mm or more. Pools of water formed on the sloping patio which hasn’t happened before.

But Roches Pt reported 1mm and Cork airport 5.6mm for yesterday

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,995 ✭✭✭Schadenfreudia

    Rain!

11.6mm fell in a this morning between 6am and noon. That's equal to the whole of June and is the heaviest rain in two months.

Accompanied by cloudy calm and low temp (13.5C at 12.30 after the final burst) this will penetrate and the beautiful brownscape will disappear :(

Now 20c and sunny. But the damage is done....

The phrase "stinking hot" came true here with a thick forest fire haze and temperatures near 34 C (Vancouver area). There was a pervasive smell of burning wood in the air and while otherwise clear the skies were grey-white rather than blue at times. The fires are in various parts of southern and central British Columbia, not within 50 km of my location.

I see Casement is gusting to 38kts at 1200.
